From December 3 - 10, 2018, the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic (MoJ KR) will hold its Annual Decade of Legal Assistance throughout the country.

During the Decade of Legal Assistance, 24 Free Legal Aid Centers (FLACs) and 12 coordinators under the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic, regional justice departments, regional state notary public offices, civil society organizations, territorial units of the Bar, as well as legal clinics of universities will provide legal assistance to citizens throughout the country.

In addition, lectures will be organized in all major universities of the country, as well as discussions in the media and distribution of informational and educational materials.

The main goal of the decade is to increase the level of legal protection of the vulnerable population, to provide legal assistance, legal education, access to justice, assistance in exercising rights, freedoms and the legitimate interests of citizens. Legal assistance will be provided through consultation on legal issues.

The decade is organized by the Ministry of Justice’s Center for Coordination of State-Guaranteed Legal Aid in partnership with the UNDP and MFA of Finland project “Towards a sustainable access to justice for legal empowerment in the Kyrgyz Republic”, USAID Collaborative Governance Program, European Union and GIZ “Rule of Law Program in the Kyrgyz Republic - the 2nd phase”, and Soros Foundation – Kyrgyzstan’s “Rule of Law Program”.
