On May 3, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic signed the Law on State Social Procurement, which will strengthen the cooperation between government bodies and civil society organizations in the provision of social services. Since 2013, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, with the support of USAID Collaborative Governance Program, has been working on the new law and accompanying secondary legal acts. The USAID Collaborative Governance Program (CGP), through its partner the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL), prepared a substantive analysis of prior legislation on social procurement and its previous practice which formed the basis for the new law. USAID CGP also conducted an economic impact analysis of social procurement in the Kyrgyz Republic, and supported a nation-wide discussion and public hearings in all regions of the country to promote the draft law. News is also available on a CGP Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/collaborative.governance.program/
